I don’t think the saying is definable. Your closing “the best handling does not reach the level of an inspirational mass publication story” is more accurate.

Can you ever know what Hashem is trying to evince from a person? How do we know if they succeeded or not without knowing what He was defining as success?

Besides, this question fails the “Would you say this to a Holocaust survivor?” test for separating viable true hashkafah from truthy platitudes.
